Video: The Hiya Dunes - “Black Fur” (Official Music Video)
The SUNY Purchase/Seagreen Records supergroup The Hiya Dunes have a new music video out for a brand new single of theirs called “Black Fur.” I haven’t heard too much from this band, but I watched the video on a whim and was very pleased with what I found. This group comprises members of The Guru, High Pop, and various other Seagreen Records-affiliated projects, and seems to take influence from all of them, particularly frontman Eddie Golden III’s solo project. With a beefed-up rhythm section and a healthy dose of timeless reverb, “Black Fur” echoes the great 1960s garage groups just about as well as they echoed themselves.
Eddie Golden’s got a knack for familiar, earworm melodies, and this ranks as one of his best. In the video, he sings into a tennis ball microphone while a toy gunfight plays out on a beach in front of him. The video is shot through a lo-fi filter, giving it a nostalgic atmosphere that fits the aesthetic of the music. Check it out above, and follow The Hiya Dunes on tumblr for more updates.
